About this deal

The Cirrus KINEKT 2.1 is an aluminum suspension seatpost that’s designed to isolate your body from surface vibrations and impacts to improve comfort and control. Each post comes with two extra springs so you can mix and match, creating a custom experience. The KINEKT post springs are available in five color-coded tensions for riders ranging from 50-320 pounds. We offer two different shapes of aerobar extensions: L-Bends and S-Bends. The L-Bends (or ski-bends) tend to place your wrists in a more ergonomic, comfortable position that's great for long rides and triathlons. The S-Bends let you pull against the extensions effectively for intense time-trial efforts. Not sure which one is best for you? We generally recommend the L-Bend extensions if you're on the fence. With the knowledge that my tyre volume and pressure could cope with the sort of impacts I normally try to avoid, I steered towards the roughest patches of tarmac, potholes, ancient cobbles and uneven gravel. When engaged, the suspension linkage compresses a steel spring inside the post’s column that’s sandwiched in between two plastic spacers. All of these innards are compressed against a hollow plastic pipe that seats against a threaded preload screw at the bottom of the post. Redshift also includes a smaller, secondary internal spring to provide additional firmness, depending on your desired ride feel. The photo sequence above shows me sitting on it set up out of the box—main spring only, with preload somewhere in the middle—with its sag affected by only my weight (about 175lbs). It’s great if you have a ‘sporty’ ride position like me, or if you mostly ride smoother roads. Given it only has 20mm of travel, you will have to compromise on the rougher roads, but I still find it offers a significant comfort improvement over a regular post. Plus it doesn’t bounce, it’s light and it’s elegant. The easiest way to determine your steerer tube size is to use a pair of calipers to directly measure the diameter or take your bike to the local bike shop and they will be able to measure it for you. Alternatively, most of the time a manufacturer will list this under their specifications in the Frame/Fork section. This makes them exceptional on off-road terrain, as they’re super responsive to bumps. Now the difference between the Redshift and the by.Schulz was almost as prominent as the difference between the by.Schulz and the Suntour. Wow! The Redshift “eats” everything, speed bumps, road chatter, roots … I sometimes begin to say “sorry” to the rear wheel as I see the impacts coming and remain quietly seated …

This is a lengthy review, so use the shortcuts below to skip to the section that you’re most interested in. Suspension seatposts are available with anything from 20 to 90mm of travel. So, how much travel is best for you? Meanwhile, the elastomer Cane Creek eeSilk offers around half as much vibration improvement, however, it’s worth noting that it only has around half the suspension travel (20mm). It’d be interesting to see how a longer-travel elastomer seatpost compares here. Its two-bolt saddle clamp remains level atop a parallelogram linkage pivoting on dry-lube bushings. When weight is added to the post a link compresses the internal spring(s), creating user-adjustable sag, which Redshift recommends should be around 20 per cent of the 35mm total travel. Not sure what size seatpost you have currently? There are a couple different ways to find out.• Most seatposts have the diameter printed somewhere near the bottom of the post. You'll need to remove the seatpost from the bike frame (mark your existing seatpost height with a bit of tape before you remove it so you can replace it easily), and look for a number like 27.2, 30.9, or 31.6 (etc.). That is the diameter of the post.The CF Allroad Pro feels less like competing suspension seatposts offered by Redshift and Cane Creek and more like you’re running a higher-volume rear tyre. Less chatter and vibration makes its way from the road to the rider, with minimal movement to distract you from the task at hand. I have one. It’s the best suspension seatpost I’ve used to date (I’ve no experience with the Kinekt, but have had Cane Creek Thudbuster LTs on 3 or 4 of My bikes, 2 Thudbuster STs (still have one); a by.Schultz LT 2.0; ridden a SunTour on girlfriend’s bike and cheap rubbish PostModern as a novice rider over 20 years ago). Below are My observations: The reason for my preference is that on most rides I’m not typically able to stay on the aerobars constantly for long periods and then use the hoods and drops constantly for a long period. Instead, I fluctuate between periods when I’m mostly on the aerobars, but changing frequently, and periods when I’m mostly using the hoods and drops. The other unintended consequence that occurs if the saddle position is not adjusted is that the aerobar armpads tend to be too far away to reach comfortably. You end up riding in a "superman" position with your arms extended too far forward, which puts a lot of stress on the supporting muscles of the arms, shoulders, and core. A suspension seatpost allows you to take bikes with narrow tyres on much rougher terrain than you normally could. Obviously, this isn’t an ideal situation, but you’d be surprised how off-road you can go on 38mm tyres!
