ISBN 9781524797607; October 5, 2017; Del Rey; US hardcover, New York Comic Con 2017 Limited Convention Edition [3] [9] The 26th story is called Twenty and Out, by Lamar Giles. It's about technicians who worked onboard the 2nd Death Star. Dexter Jettster is OLD. he remembers the Nihil?! He looks after his neighbors and knows just how dangerous the upcoming weeks on Coruscant will be, whether or not Palpatine is actually dead (and he doesn’t believe he is). The end was beautiful.

This is another great entry in the From A Certain Point of View series. The stories mostly ranged from very good to fantastic, with only one or two clunkers. Read-Along Storybook and CD · Golden Book · The Film Novel (French) · Beware the Power of the Dark Side! The 3rd story is called The Key to Remembering, by Olivia Chadda. After C-3PO and R2-D2 are gifted to Jabba the Hutt by a hologram of Luke Skywalker, they are taken to the dungeon of Jabba's Palace. There, they run into a droid named EV-9D9, who revels in torturing her fellow droids. This story is book-ended by scenes that actually take place after the events of ROTJ, where EV-9D9 is working at the Cantina from A New Hope. And she recalls how she came to have a change of heart. Foregone Conclusion: A few of these stories focus on doomed characters, taking place in what the reader knows is their last moments, such as Raymus Antilles, Greedo, and Dex Tyree.Call to Adventure: Quite a few characters end their stories by leaving everything behind to answer it. Fully Operational", by Beth Revis ( Rebel Rising): Taking place from the perspective of General Tagge and Admiral Motti as they attend an Imperial meeting aboard the Death Star. Bait-and-Switch: "Whills" sounds like it's going to be important, but is actually just a comedic Leaning on the Fourth Wall. The fact that the author to the Origami Yoda series was going to write it should've tipped you off. The 32nd story is called The Emperor's Red Guards, by Gloria Chao. In ROTJ, Papatine is flanked by a pair of red-clad Imperial Guards. I've always thought they were so cool-looking. When Luke is brought before Palpatine, he dismisses the Guards from his quarters. They eventually discover Palpatine's death, and witness Darth Vader's death. Luke shows them mercy by letting them escape from the 2nd Death Star as it's being destroyed. Nnedi Okorofor brings dignity and depth to a most unlikely character: the monster in the trash compactor.

By Whatever Sun" is also a sequel of sorts to Ahsoka, as it centers around Miara and somewhat delves into what she's been doing since the ending of Ahsoka. It is mentioned that sometime after the events of Ahsoka, Miara was given her first classified mission from Ahsoka via Fulcrum transmission. From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi ( audiobook), released in 2023 for the eponymous film On May 25, 1983, Star Wars cemented its legacy as the greatest movie franchise of all time with the release of Return of the Jedi . But sometimes, the holidays end up feeling like ‘tis the season to be stressed out. That is why if I could invite any Star Wars character over for the holidays, it would be Beru Lars. You can always count on her to bring a cheerful spirit and her famous blue milk cheese on a charcuterie plate. Both stories, as well as a few others, are full-circle moments for these characters whom so many have loved over the decades. Each story has something fresh but familiar to offer, and there really is a story for every kind of Star Wars fan.

Overall, the anthology is an exceptional ending to the trilogy of From a Certain Point of View stories. It’s also full of new beginnings for beloved characters and the galaxy as a whole. FACPOV: Return of the Jedi feels like the most poignant and focused of the trilogy of From a Certain Point of View books. The book’s pacing is steady as it deftly moves the story and readers through more than three dozen different stories, several planets, a Death Star, and the forest moon of Endor. The Sith of Datawork", by Ken Liu: Taking place from the perspective of an Imperial officer aboard Darth Vader's Star Destroyer, Devastator. Hidden Depths: Turns out Admiral Motti, the guy who Vader choked for dismissing the Force, is actually religious himself, though of a different religion than Vader. He just objects to having someone else literally shove their religious beliefs down his throat at a military meeting. He's also got a snarky streak, as he notes that if Vader has such faith in the ability of the Force, then he can destroy the planet himself, as opposed to having to step closer just to strangle a coworker. Piett for some reason can’t get Ozzel out of his head and then thinks about his childhood and then is glad to be killed by the rebels because he did what was right [and wasn’t killed by Vader?].

Dramatic Irony: "End of Watch" has a character in the Imperial Navy mention that their brother is holidaying on Scarif and hasn't heard from him lately, and the main character of "Laina" sent his infant daughter to Alderaan for safety. The reader, of course, knows full well that the military post on Scarif has been wiped off the face of the planet — by the very weapon that the Imperial character is currently sitting in! — and Alderaan is utterly destroyed. From a Certain Point of View was first teased on social media on April 6, 2017, using the hashtag #OperationBlueMilk. The anthology was officially announced on April 7 with the news that it was a collection of 40 short stories, written by 40 authors, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, which was released in 1977. The book was released in October 2017. [5] It is now also available as an e-book. [2]
