About this deal

Actually, that’s not a tail….it’s poo! Sometimes it forms a string and stays attached to the Aqua Dragon for a while before eventually dropping off. It’s perfectly normal and doesn’t do the Aqua Dragon any harm. If there is food still floating in the water (the water is cloudy) then they don’t need to be fed. If the water looks quite clear and the aqua dragons are looking for food in the sediment formed on the bottom of the tank, then it’s time to feed them. We received the Aqua Dragons Deluxe Deep Sea Habitat with LED lights free for the purposes of this review but words and pictures are my own. It’s easy to set up as the tank comes assembled. As the kit is suitable for slightly older children (recommended for ages 6+) and my children are pretty rubbish at waiting, we set the kit up on evening when they were in bed.

It’s important not to overfeed your Aqua Dragons. How often to feed them depends on the number of Aqua Dragons there are and how much food there is remaining in the tank. Having had Sea Monkeys when I was young and been entirely underwhelmed, I wondered what the children would make of the the tiny aquatic Aqua Dragons. It’s not normally necessary, but if you want to clean the tank you can carefully tip your Aqua Dragons (and their water) into another clean container while you rinse out their tank. Only use water and a clean cloth or brush to clean the tank, don’t use any chemicals or detergent, because that could harm your Aqua Dragons. The light was a nice addition; it could be used as a nightlight in an older and more trustworthy child’s room, although you can’t really replace the batteries with ease once it’s filled so I’d be nervous about leaving the light on too much.Hatching and growing Aqua Dragons helps children learn important values like caring for a living being, being responsible by remembering to feed and care for them, and treating live animals with respect. The project is also highly educational in terms of science, anatomy, biology, marine biology and even history and geography where our activity and instruction booklet covers all these areas in an enjoyable way. Aqua Dragons are most sensitive in their first weeks of life, so to avoid problems follow this advice: Despite following the instructions to the letter,a few days afterwards I could only see one little guy moving around… and then there was nothing.

If you follow the instructions carefully, you should see some tiny white Aqua Dragons swimming within 48-72 hours of adding the sachet to your tank. With a magnifying glass, you may be able to see some signs of life as early as 24 hours after setting up your tank.

Aqua Dragons are fun for kids, and animal lovers who will choose the exact moment they will bring to life their beloved pets! Aqua Dragons are a unique and fascinating species of aquatic creatures that make great pets for people of all ages. If you're considering adding Aqua Dragons to your family, you'll want to make sure you have all the information you need to keep them happy and healthy. In this ultimate guide to Aqua Dragons, we'll cover everything you need to know about raising and caring for these amazing creatures.

In the wild Aqua Dragons (Artemia Salina) still live in salty lakes, they only eat microscopic algae particles, by foraging and filtering along tiny hair like structures on their legs which they move in a rhythmic mantoray motion as they swim. To turn the LED light on there’s a little switch in the base. You’ll need to put in 2 AAA batteries (not included) to make the light work. There were probably more than a dozen, not even a millimetre long. I got stupidly excited, and so did the kids… and then DISASTER.

We were sent the Aqua Dragons Deluxe Deep Sea Habitat with LED lights to review.

Yes, sunlight is good, as long as it doesn’t cause the water to overheat (it should be between 17ºC and 30ºC) so be careful in summer. Here is a short video about what to do to help your Aqua Dragons thrive when they are not doing well, and also how you can get them to hatch again after the life cycle has finished in your tank: Sunlight - natural light is beneficial and sunlight is good as long as it does not cause the water to become too hot.

Their very efficient way of living and reproducing has enabled them to arrive to today’s day almost exactly as they were millions of years ago. Tests have found that eggs kept in air sealed containers for up to 20 years still hatched when they were returned to water. In addition to being fascinating creatures to observe, Aqua Dragons have many benefits as pets. They are easy to care for and don't require a lot of space, making them a great choice for apartments or people with limited living space. They are also a fun and educational pet for children, teaching them about life cycle, aquatic life and the importance of caring for living creatures. So the Aqua Dragons are real little time travellers which you can hatch and grow at home, waking them up from their hibernation. Two days after set up, start feeding with one small level aqua dragons feeding spoon full. Step four: Care for your Aqua Dragons and watch them grow. The egg has a strong shell that takes 24 hours to break through, releasing a nauplii which is an artemia salina in its larval stage. The larvae emerge swimming and growing rapidly and after a few more weeks it grows into a young adult.Aqua Dragons are not actually toys, they are sold in toy shops as a science project for children and adults. Aqua Dragons grow into real creatures so should be taken care of as pets. What do Aqua Dragons look like? Aqua Dragons are little aquatic creatures also known as brine shrimp or artemia to tropical fish keepers like us. I won’t scar you by letting you know what we do with them but they are labelled ‘live food’.
